Sanlorenzo’s SP110 model has been honoured with the esteemed Compasso d’Oro 2024 design award at a ceremony held at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.
The international jury praised the SP110 from Sanlorenzo for its exceptional integration of Made in Italy design, high performance, and sustainability – hallmark features of Sanlorenzo’s craftsmanship.
Established by Gio Ponti in 1954, the Compasso d’Oro recognises projects that excel in quality, innovation, and cultural impact, rather than just popularity or visual appeal. The award’s high selectivity, with only about 370 acknowledgements in its 70-year history, underscores its prestigious nature. It is considered as the most important design award in the world.
Debuting at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival
The SP110 exemplifies Sanlorenzo’s seamless blend of tradition and innovation, offering yachts that meet top standards of design and technology while addressing the nautical sector’s growing sustainability demands. The model’s design, sustainability, and performance balance is a result of collaborations with notable experts: Bernardo Zuccon for exterior design, Tilli Antonelli for product development, Marco Arnaboldi for the hull, and Piero Lissoni for interiors.
As the first in the ‘Smart Performance’ range, the SP110 combines high performance with maximum energy efficiency through fractional propulsion with three engines. Its energy recovery system includes highly efficient solar panels and lithium batteries, enabling hotel functions without generators.
The exterior, designed by Zuccon International Project, features aerodynamic shapes and a distinctive style. Piero Lissoni’s interiors emphasize elegant minimalism with lightweight materials like lava stone, optimizing ample onboard spaces for both social and private use, including an expanded sun deck and a well-equipped bow dinette.
These innovative features led the international jury, after a two-year selection process involving a multidisciplinary observatory of about 150 experts, to award the Compasso d’Oro to the SP110.
“For our firm, this award is our most important achievement in the field of design, and we feel honoured to have received it for a highly fascinating and challenging project like the SP110, which has shown how research into what we define as territories of on-board living still offers margins for new ideas, for offering the market increasingly versatile products,” expressed Bernardo Zuccon.
The SP110 is more than just a yacht; it redefines the concept of a floating home with new proportions, a novel relationship between transparent and opaque surfaces, and new living solutions. It renews the production process in a strategic sector through rigorous research on constructive and usage sustainability factors.
The Sanlorenzo SP110 will be displayed at the ADI Design Museum from June 20 to September 15, 2024.
